Philips Lighting

Founded in Eindhoven, the Netherlands, in 1891 by Gerard Philips and his father Frederik, Philips began as a manufacturer of incandescent light bulbs before developing into one of Europe's leading electrical and lighting companies.

Throughout the 20th century, Philips became known for its innovative approach to lighting, combining practical engineering with modern industrial design. During the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s, the company produced a wide range of domestic and commercial lighting, including distinctive pendant lights characterised by clean geometric forms, colourful finishes and functional detailing.

Philips lighting from this period remains popular for its understated design, quality of manufacture and enduring mid-century appeal.

Condition Report

Good original condition, with minor cosmetic wear consistent with age and previous use. The yellow finish presents well overall. The light has been rewired with modern electrical components and is in full working order.

As with all of our products this product is an original piece and has lived a life before it arrived at Otto's HQ. It has been sympathetically restored by the Otto's team to ensure it has a life for many more years to come. All of our products will show signs of patina and cosmetic wear, this we believe is what gives our products their unique charm.
