Van Haute

Van Haute was a Belgian lighting manufacturer based in Brussels, with production facilities in Brussels and Aalst. Operating during the mid-20th century, the company specialised in functional industrial and commercial lighting, particularly fluorescent lighting systems during the 1950s.

Van Haute produced a range of metal pendant lights and ceiling fixtures, combining practical engineering with the modernist designs of the period. Its lighting often featured wide circular shades, perforated ventilation slots and distinctive conical fittings, with designs produced in a variety of colours and finishes.

The company traded under the initials VH, which appeared on its original lighting fixtures and manufacturer's labels. Although Van Haute is no longer in operation, its original lighting remains an interesting example of Belgian industrial design from the 1950s and 1960s.

Condition Report

Good original condition, with minor cosmetic wear consistent with age and previous use. The mint green finish presents well overall. The light has been rewired with modern electrical components and is in full working order.

As with all of our products this product is an original piece and has lived a life before it arrived at Otto's HQ. It has been sympathetically restored by the Otto's team to ensure it has a life for many more years to come.
